"e; Abba Charitable Society was registered on 8th December 1999 as S. No. 723/99 in connection with Abba Day, 1999. Christians around the world observed 1999 as Abba Year. The word "Aba" means Father. We should see others, as God sees us. The main concept of Abba is to help the neighbours. We are grateful to all those under whose leadership the Society was formed and started functioning. We thank the ex-Chairman, Rev. Fr. Dr. Paul Achandi, who guided the Society under his able leadership.

Till today, the Society has organized many remarkable functions. A Millenium Dinner was organized for collection of funds by the Society in which various cultural programmes were included. The Baby Show organized by the Society in 2002, in connection with silver jubilee celebrations of Amala Cancer Hospital was a remarkable one.

We have been able to provide "Janasree Bima Yojana" policies to auto-taxi drivers of Adat and Kaiparamba Panchayats in co-ordination with LIC, Kess, etc. We are proud that we could provide benefits worth lakhs of Rupees to the poor under Viswa Arogya Insurance Plan. Distribution of rice twice a month at a fixed level has helped to feed many poor families of Adat and Kaiparamba panchayats. Other important projects included providing shelters to those who do not have a house, repairing of existing shelters which were in bad condition and providing materials for covering the roof, etc. Abba Charitable Society has provided small amount of financial assistance on various occasions to many poor familities for marriage of their daughters.

The Society has joined hands with Community Aid Supporting Agency, Rajagiri, for the benefit of approximately 30 students for their uniforms, study materials, tuition fees, etc. Abba Charitable Society has been organizing drawing / painting camp for children at district level on November 14th every year. Free Dialysis Services started on 10th May, 2009 has become a turning point in charity. Abba has been receiving Rs. 50,000 every year for charity from Mission Sunday Project of Amala Hospital. Abba recognizes best Social Worker who provides maximum social work every year.

5 top students who pass SSLC examination with highest marks have been receiving cash award of Rs. 1,500 every year from endowment established by Sri. K. P. Velunni. A scholarship of Rs. 1,500 was provided to plus two toppers of nine subjects. Scholarship will be given to one degree student and ten plus two students this year. Moreover, sponsors are approaching Abba for degree scholarships. 60 bags of cement, which were collected from the well-wishers, were given to a poor person last year for building his house. Similarly, we have been able to repair the house of another poor person in Chittilappilli. A bicycle was provided to a poor student.

Onakkodi (Onam dresses) were distributed to 300 persons during the Onam celebrations which were inaugurated by Guruvayur Devaswom Chairman Sri. T. V. Chandramohan on 7th September, 2011. The General Body Meeting was conducted on 18th September, 2011. In addition to the permanent directors, new office bearers were elected unanimously from the standing committee members.

The Christmas celebrations were inaugurated by Sri. P. A. Madhavan, MLA. 250 kits of vegetables were collected from the houses of members, which were distributed during Christmas celebrations.

I take this opportunity to once again thank each member behind this organisation. I pray to Jesus for giving us the power and resources to help the poor in the subsequent years too.
